  • What does Pop mean?

When shopping for trading cards, you will often hear the term "Pop". Well, for those of you that don't live in this world of collectibles, here is a brief explanation. The term Pop, refers to the word population and is associated with the current ranking of that card in regard to condition. This term is used more with graded cards than raw cards.

If you hear someone say a card is a PSA pop 1, that would mean:

    1) That is the only card that has ever been awarded that grade by PSA

    2) It is the single highest example graded by PSA to date and does not share that spot with any other PSA graded card

    3) No example of that card has ever been graded higher by PSA.

If you hear someone say a card is a PSA pop 1 - 1 higher, that would mean:

    1) That is the only card that has ever been awarded that grade by PSA

    2) There is 1 card graded higher by PSA than This card.

No Matter which grading company is used, these rules hold true for each one.
